Dance Data On-Line

The National Resource Centre for Dance (NRCD) Archives houses over 50special collections and a large core collections. Special collections cover the work of a particular dance company, individual, or organisation. Dating from the late nineteenth century to the present, the collections span a range of dance styles, from ballet to modern dance to South Asian dance or social dance. The NRCD's extensive core collections cover a range of materials. The database is an output of a three-year project to migrate and enhance catalogue records to archive software and further catalogue some of the collections. The search buttons give you four ways of entering the catalogue. Each button takes you to a different database, which is linked to the other three: Catalogue: records about the actual items held in the archive (papers, photographs, videos, etc.); Names: records about people, companies, and organisations that have created or are the subjects of the physical items in the archive. Also click on the names button for records about periodicals. People's names are entered in the order Surname First Name; Dance Works: records about dance works linked to the physical items in the archive; Venues: records about venues linked to the physical items in the archive.
