The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland (CRSBI) is an evolving electronic archive of British and Irish Romanesque stone sculpture.

ROMANESQUE SCULPTURE

Romanesque sculpture marks a high point of artistic production in Britain and Ireland, corresponding to the boom in high-quality building that followed the Norman Conquest in 1066, and reflecting a new set of links with mainland Europe. A good deal of this sculpture remains in parish churches and cathedrals, houses and halls, castles and museums throughout these isles.

John Ruskin's Teaching Collections

This two-year project presented via the Web, a fully searchable and browsable catalogue linked to digitized images of John Ruskin's 'Teaching Collections' held in the Ashmolean Museum at the University of Oxford. The interface presents users with a means of linking Ruskin's original catalogues of his collection with modern catalogue information, presenting the entire Oxford-based collection as a single resource: as some of the original collections have now been dispersed under individual artist categories, the project virtually reassembled them in Ruskin's original sequences.

Adolphe Appia at Hellerau: Virtual Reconstructions and performances

Using both photographs of historic settings and original designs, virtual reality models were created of Appia's "rhythmic spaces", and their lighting and other properties. Mixed reality performance technology was used to integrate both video footage and live action into these virtual settings. In addition, a highly detailed VR model of the Hellerau Festspielhaus, where some of Appia's designs were realised for innovative performance, was created. Then, using historic photographs, sets recorded in archive photos were placed into the great hall at Hellerau, and lit under various conditions.

Transnational Communities: towards a sense of belonging

Using both participatory action research and arts practice the project explored a sense of belonging, place and emplacement with four transnational communities who are defined as refugees/asylum seekers/undocumented people (in Derby, Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham). The Long Journey Home artists in exile group based in Nottingham explored these themes and created a series of works for exhibition. Other regional universities supported us with; exhibition space, staff support, supporting artists and communities.
